We listened to what everyone have to say and try to understand the intended messages.

Without Ian and Jet, we have KJ in replacement. That leaves only Cat and Kai in car. Since Cat is busy driving (Driving is not of her automatic cognitive process yet...) while Kai navigating, not many (or I should say none) pictures of cyclists on the road.

Car crews stopped at a place to update the blog and the cyclists later met them to enquire Kai the exact route to Bukit Mertajam.

Cat had been mentioning about some place with the name of Tiga Ringgit ever since they passed by the place. This time around, they are able to drive pass that area again and Cat managed to capture it down.

Thought it seemed to be an uneventful day but deep inside us, we have a thing that we could not tell. There are only 5 of us now and the lost of 2 members definitely brought some form of impact to each of us. Was the feelings of not being in the same team as it used to be? Was it because of the same route that we used that bored us? Was it our personal agendas? Was it the limited resources we have now?

12th Day - Let's Twist It Around

The land of the eagles.. and the land of Puteri Mahsuri.. the princess with a heart so big yet so soft that was accused wrong and was sent to death subsequently, that fairy tale mentioned that she sworn and put on a curse if she’s being sentenced to death vainly, she would eventually bleed in white and the island is being cursed for 7 generation. This time of the journey was a breeze for us. It’s one of the best island and to be exact the most frequently visit island in Malaysia. Island wasn’t that big nor small.. it’s just nice for it’s amazing sea breeze that came almost at each and every corner of the island. Despite the heat, we still manage to strife on with our bikes and not to mention the Rm70 per day Van. That technically helped us a lot on transportation.

So much had happened since.. Truly an island of 1st for most of us, with new found people and faces, with experiences that never taught it would even struck across ourselves, but nevertheless.. this calls for the end for 2 of our riders, not that they are physically gone but spiritually lost from our sight. Due to some constrains and mentally exhausted. They are now leaving 5 left to continue the another 50% journey that’s left for Project-Ryders to be completed. Our overly-enthusiast-photographer and forever hyped up to want to bike along inspiring-super-lady is now on the list to endure the last 50% hurdle across Quarter of Malaysia’s Map.

Early in the morning, we waved goodbye to Ian at the Jetty.

At the Jetty in Kuala Kedah, Nic, Sharon and KJ parted with the car crews and Jet. Jet decided to leave the team for personal issues and the car crews tailed him until he reached Alor Setar to get a train home with his bicycle.

Reaching Alor Setar, Cat and Kai tried to purchase the train ticket to Rawang but it was all sold out. Jet tried other classes of seats and still faced the same problem. The fastest ride to Rawang was at 6p.m. the next day. This put the three of them into deep thoughts again.

Option 1:-

Jet stays in Alor Setar until the next day to take the train.

Option 2:-

Dismantle the bicycle and together they traveled to Gurun to meet the rest of the team.

Cat ruled! She technically ordered how it was to be done and chose option 2 for mostly safety reasons.

Day 10 & 11 - Chilax

After a long night of staying up while feeding mosquitoes, the booth was finally opened for tickets. Cat bought the tickets for us and the bicycles and Langkawi, here we come!!!!

Once we touched down in Langkawi, we headed to the motel in town and had a substantial rest. In the mean time, Nic, Sharon, Cat and Kai sneaked out to Chenang beach. They found the very spot they would stay the next day.

Back in the motel, ryders went out to hunt for food. One conclusion of the food: They are mostly salty...

What can you do in the land where the alcohol and chocolate are tax free?! *Pictures are not allowed to be posted up =P*

The next morning, Nic, Sharon and Cat cycled to Chenang beach. The rest came with the loaned van. Checked in to the guest house, the ryders decided to go island hopping!

9th Day - 140km

We had enough rest for sure and we set to the route to Langkawi island.

On the way, we found nice kampong names like "Lahar IKAN MATI" with the direct translation of "Volcanic Mudflow Fish Dead" (whatever it means, find out yourself...) and lots more to be revealed later on haha It started all the way from Bukit Mertajam, Penang. As day passes by on the very sunny day, we ventured the day with high hopes to finish the trail with less than 8 hours. Oh! In the morning, when the riders set out, hopes we initially dimmed when it started to rain.. and rained.. as the car crew were still sleeping of course.. haha but at 10am the riders had it all out despite drizzles that can only hurt mosquitos. But yet again the rain kinda halt their journey along the way with one or two more heavy splashes from mother nature.

Approx 1pm the riders passed the kampung area and reached the border of Kedah and that's where the happiest moment came to our dear car crew Catherine where she replaces Ian to continue ride on. Due to the sun Ian overheated. Not long after Ian's dismiss on the bike KJ the Photographer/Car Crew/whatever have to replace Nic after a freak accident that happened right after a cheer up high five given by KJ that ended like bells knocked with a metal brass.. you do the thinking, i do the riding.. nevertheless our fearless leader Nic has always live in the edge of the road facing any possible danger ahead of him. Hmm..

A meet with Joe the photographer/photojournalist that travels across Asia and had been around Malaysia since 1994. He was enlightening to us about the route to Kuala Kedah as well.

We reached Sungai Petani later on finding ourselves some lunch/tea at 5pm at the Nasi Kandar store and practically re-routing the whole way as it's pretty confusing to reach Kuala Kedah on that day itself. We later on find ourselves running out of time as it's 6pm and our riders are running out of daylight, energy and mostly the time to jetty is just 2 hours away before the last call for the Langkawi ferry. The dusk came by gracefully as the riders switched on their CatEye with the car crew this time watching the riders back closely with high beam lights. The stretch of road seems endless as this is technically the 1st time we rode at almost pitched dark situation. KJ with his overflowing energy decided at one point to lead far ahead of the pack to check on the road situation in front as well as the fastest route to Kuala Kedah as the team starting to lose not only energy but motivation as well. The car crew had to stay back because of the pitch black road for emergency purposes and a light in the dark.

Suddenly somewhere nearby Kampung Batu 14, Nic really got stumbled upon as he slipped off the tar road and slide on the sand alongside with his bike, leaving him some injuries, but thankfully not major ones. At this point of time, it kinda shown the riders has really worn ed down along with their spirit at one point of this time. It was such a test given to them as one team rider was down and worries runs high. Upon reaching Simpang 4 police station, KJ has made a few inquiries regarding the route to Kuala Kedah jetty and when the team arrived, discussion popped up again to use the most possible fastest route to Kuala Kedah's jetty and this time around it's already around 10pm. It's late.. It's tiring.. and the route seems endless. KJ and Cat decided to take the route with the car to estimate the distance as the others took their rest at Simpang Empat. Came back, and the results came with another 16km to Kuala Kedah with a really pitch black road alongside the paddy field. Stress lingers around some of the riders as their doubted the road but a few still insist on going to the jetty as Kedah's town is a little further away.

We move on.. at around 12am but we ride on.. Armed with only a Proton Saga with hazard lights on and high beam lights on the paddy field road, 3 riders were very tired and KJ tries to lead the way with full stamina and armed with him.. is a smile only.. and a camera despite nightfall. Riders reached the jetty at around 1am with exhaustion is the only word on their mind. We manage to find another good samaritan as he allow us to take bath at a small motel with burst out pipes but kindness are never to be measured when it comes to this stake of life. The day ends with mosquito lingers our feet as we try to sleep in the car, 7eleven or the coridor of the jetty centre.

8th Day - BREAK

So we had a break after a long day in the mall yesterday.

All ryders got up very late except the host (Cat), the photographer (KJ) and the leader (Nic). Cat being the host automatically became responsible in preparing the best meals...

We had another round of sharing session. It was important to clarify our doubts and common goals in this project. We were able to open ourselves for suggestions and constructive comments which guide us to the journey that followed.

7th Day - Come to us!

Some ryders claimed that today is the most boring one. It is obvious that we have too much energy to spare.

Today, we are to set up a booth in Queenbays Mall (Many thanks to Queensbay Mall for providing us the space!). We went there early with the van offered by Cat’s parents. There, we set up a booth in the centre court of the mall. We waited for people to come by. Waited for the crowd to grow bigger.

We were amazed by the number of enthusiasts engaging in this sport. In fact, many of them had done what we are doing and provided us some most useful advices. Very much appreciated. We learnt much!!

"I got a call from Nic and he requested me to get a DOG. He will make a hole at the back of the dog so that people can stuff the donation into the DOG. Assumption made that the DOG is a soft toy... I did not get a dog but a cow... Nothing wrong what..."

6th Day - Taking Alternatives

Rested, all ryders had a meeting for what to be done and prepared for tomorrow – the most important day in the schedule. Ryders will all gathered in Queensbay mall to collect pledges and donations. No more cycling but talking…

5th Day - Chances and Fate

We have two replacements today. Catherine is replacing Ian and KJ replace Jet for the day from Kampar to Ipoh. (Cat’s personal note: I could not sleep the night before because I was too excited about her first ride for the trip!)

The journey was filled with dust. Many big lorries and trucks were on the road. However, the cyclists enjoyed the 40+km ride. We sang to entertain themselves with songs like “Shalala in the Morning” and “We are the Champion” Also, we did a quick detour at Ling Sen Tong and took some pictures of the statutes with handphones. We camwhored too…

8km to Ipoh!

The ryders covered the whole distance in only an hour and a half compared to four hours for the same distance on the previous day (tells a lot about lack of punctures and unexpected break downs). Woohoooooooo!!

Our friend in Ipoh, Shu Ling, brought us to a great dim sum breakfast. The nostalgic decor and creative menu provided all of us a restful and playful atmosphere. The morning of good cheer concluded with the after taste of real Ipoh white coffee enjoyed at the comfort of Shu Ling’s place.

Not until 4.00 p.m. did we finally gear up for the next second leg of the journey which was to Kuala Gula that was when the series of unfortunate events started for the day. What was believed to be a three-hour ride turned out to be a sad misreport of our GPS computer, the actual estimate was a shocking 100km more which will be 7 hours of riding in total. It cannot be done without great risks! The destination was thus pulled backward to Taiping. The ryders decided to press on.

Before rolling out of a meter, KJ discovered that his front tire has punctured AGAIN… (KJ: What the __!) The already anxious team went into emergency rescue only to discover a bigger problem – the hub has suffered a crack from the whole journey. All plans for the day came to a complete halt, and almost half the town refused to take the bike in for repair until we got to this curious shop. The old mechanic agreed to do whatever needed to be done.

Shu Ling and her family generously provided us their place to put up a night at. Also, they allowed us to use their van to send Jet’s bicycle to the shop for repair and also to places for meals.

After dinner, the team wanted to go to the night market to collect pledges and donation, but the plan was scrapped off when the team argued over the mode of transportation we should use to reach Penang in time.

The major issue surrounding the decision came from the bikes. All things aside, KTM would be the best choice if they didn’t disallow us to bring the bikes onto the train deck. As dinner worked its miracle, KJ thought of a way to side-skirt the rule. The principle of loopholes in ambiguity: It is not a bicycle, it is an oversized luggage ;-)

And so the team re-visited ktm station, this time to confirm that oversized luggage can be brought onto the train. And turned out, the problem was never with the bikes, we just talked to the wrong persons- the train manager gave us the green light to mount our bikes (yes, we don’t have to hide them as gigantic packages anymore) onto empty spaces on the train. Yehaaaaa~~!!! Way to go KJ!!!!

That’s set! 5pm tomorrow… choo-choo up to Bukit Mertajam, Penang.

4th Day - We survived the day.

I thought it is already the fifth day while it is only the fourth. I reckoned that it is the quality time that we spent together on the road. The number of new things that occurred around us made everything beautiful and inspiring.

Many many many many many (YES, we need that) thanks to Kenji and Cindy (Ian’s friends), we found ourselves a place to stay for the night and fantastic supper! The great infamous Teluk Intan chee cheong fun!!! They offered us almost everything that we need and even do our laundry. Thank you for tolerating with the ikan bilis odour and the noise that we made.

We managed to get enough sleep last night. Departing at 12.00 p.m., with Cindy’s help, we went to the bicycle shop with the name of Bike Center nearby the mosque. It was no doubt a neat bicycle shop in town. We found all the necessities ryders need. We were very blessed to meet the shopkeeper who sponsored us one CatEye and taught our mechanic (Sharon) some mechanism about front derailer.

We spent half an hour there in the bicycle shop and saw the big pile of dark clouds approaching us. Quickly we traveled to Kenji’s newly opened dentist center in order to update our blog and facebook status. While the car crews stayed in the clinic to continue with the updates, cyclists set off to the path to Kampar.

For the very first time, the cyclists experienced cycling in the rain. As Mrs. Chan had mentioned in the pre-launch, we are the “aspiring and adventurous students who will brave the weather from Petaling Jaya all the way to north of Malaysia”. It is evident now that we realistically fit her descriptions.

Jet almost met an accident while on the road while he was trying to avoid a dead dog. This proves the importance of cycling as a team and the importance of making ourselves visible on the road by sticking to each other. Way to Go, Ryders!!

Ian experienced something EXTRAORDINARY. She said, “The bird SHIT on me!” Well yeah. She meant it literally. It dropped on her arm and it was acidic. Next time, investigate the drop and make sure you take the proper steps by checking with the doctor. Serious matter with bird dung…

Nic had a puncture while Jet’s tyre was “pregnant”. How ironic that the two incidents occurred almost at the same time…

3rd Day: We are always learning

We learnt a lot today. We really do.

Yesterday we learnt much about the mechanical and technical matter about cycling and today we learnt much about each other.

Ryders departed from Kuala Selangor at 7.30 a.m. and reached Sekinchan at 10.00 a.m. Ryders arrived at the designated place later than expected due to flat tire that occurred to Sharon’s bicycle. The car crews went around Kuala Selangor to find a bicycle shop to get tires. We found no bicycles opened in the early hours of the day. We learnt that a nearby motorcycle shop may have the tires of the required size from a postman. Terima Kasih Abang!

Once we got the tires and tubes, we headed down to where the ryders are. There, the ryders changed the tires and tubes. While changing tires, the customers of the petrol station were curious and came forward to check out our condition. One of the employees at the petrol station actually helped us to exchange the tires. There, we met the owner of the petrol station and had a picture with him.

In Sekinchan, ryders found a bicycle shop and have their bicycles fixed while the car crews went around to ask for pledges and donation. We met nice and kind hearted people all around. We were able to find the best place for lunch which served shark meat. Yummy!

At 1.15 p.m., ryders set to Teluk Intan after checking their supplies of Power bar, Power gel (which we experiment a lot with plain water) and water. Ryders had miscommunication and the team ryders were consequently split into two. Four cyclists are cycling to different routes. Car crews drove down the road to get the two cyclists in order to get them to meet the other two cyclists at the other end of road. The ryders were upset and at the same time guilty of the mistakes they made. One of the cyclists ignored all forms of interaction from the team and headed straight to the destination. The rest of the team tried to tail the cyclist but failed.

While the cyclists were on the road, the car crews managed to get some pleadges along the way.

The car crews stopped at a mamak restaurant which situated on the way to Teluk Intan and sent the message to all cyclists to gather there. As the moment pass by, a ring or a sms is our hope. We received a text at last and hurriedly we make a call to ensure the safety of that cyclist. One of the car crews nearly moved to tears and was sincerely happy that the cyclist is safe. Then, we felt the importance of team work and that we actually care about each other more than we thought we do.

Team ryders then started cycling to the town. KJ, instead of riding with the car crews, jogged and walked to the town of Teluk Intan from the mamak restaurant (20km) with the intention to motivate the team by demonstrating high enthusiasm. After 2 hours of cycling, the riders met the car crews at 8.45 p.m. We had our dinner with one of the cyclist’s friends. They were kind enough to offer us a place to put up a night at and also to take care of our laundry. Most importantly, they showed us the best Chee Cheong Fun in town! Many thanks to them!

2nd day..

Jet's neighbout gave us the first 50!!

3rd August 2009 – This day marks the day of a long haul journey filled with enthusiasm, morale and most of all, the sincerity that we all discussed the previous day. Some of us slept as late, or may I say as early as 4am despite knowing we needed more sleep for the energy for the next day. Articles regarding the project : Check, Banner : Check, Bike : Check, PowerBar : Check, Power Gel : Check Head count : Check(nobody got lost mid of the way btw).

Depite the long journey ahead of us, quite a number of us stayed up for blog updates and confirmation of routes.

By the way, A BIG SHOUTOUT to thank Jet’s parents and family members, the ryders and crews had a good night sleep and a proper breakfast that would last us not only our stomach but spiritually as well.

Team ryders departed from Rawang at 10.00a.m. and reached Bentari Jaya (former known as Batang Berjuntai) at 12.15pm. Ian and Sharon exchanged their bicycles on the way and the exchange seemed to be the best solution to keep every ryders at the same speed. We managed to capture a lot of great scenes along the way.

Here in Bentari Jaya, we carried our banner and walked around the town after lunch asking the people to sign on it and donate according to their abilities. People are receptive with our intention and the amount of effort to aid Independent Living of Disabled Selangor. The generosity amongst the citizens amazed every one of us and that definitely led us to be more enthusiastic and motivated.

Departing from Bentari Jaya at 2.30p.m., the ryders reached Kuala Selangor at 5.00p.m. Here, we had tea in one of the restaurant and again we carried our banner proudly and asked the public to sign on it. Here, we met more interesting people.

Before dinner, we found a great spot for pictures with the view of the river. We met a Taiwanese gospel composer there. We hesitated for a while before we approached him as we saw him on wheelchair. It turned out very well. In fact, he requested to pray for us. That motivated some of the ryders and even moved them into tears. It was undoubtedly the major source of motivation of the day.

After dinner, we met some kind residents and at the same time found a cheaper place to stay which undoubtedly helped to cut down our overall cost. Once settling down in the motel, some of us headed to the night market and had some more people to sign on our banner. Of course, more pictures and beautiful people! One of the kids in the night market approached Nic and asked for his number. When asked, he revealed that he would like to be a cyclist like Nic in the future. Way to go, kid! We shall see you riding the bicycle in the near future!

Let's see.. how should I start this post?

Perhaps at the day of the lauch? =) alrighty.

I was asked to assist one of the members of ILselangor that day. And I've learnt quite a bit during that short period. We who are healthy and able, usually take what we have for granted. We climb the stairs with little thought, we use the bathroom with little bother, we turn around with little trouble. After that day, any doubts about doing this project went away. I left that day with a conviction that I would see this project though.

Despite our next-to-nothing budjet, I think we managed well with the assistance from countless people in making this come through. Firstly, my father who made my bike sturdy and strong for the 1000km ++ journey. I know he did a great job, because my bike had no need for maintenance in the past two days. I don't know about the coming days, but I have faith.=)

also, the impromtu team members who came along for the journey; KJ, Sharon and Kai.

KJ for bringing our spirits up after a rather challenging first day and help us bring focus. Sharon for her uncanny ability to get us out of tight spots every so often, and Kai for being the handy man. He has everything one needs for the journey! As one of the members said, this project has been a miracle. I guess things do fall into place with the right intentions. =)

Today is the second day, I think we have made improvements in terms of our communication as well as our expectations of each other. We have learnt much and we have much more to learn in the coming days. Sandra mentioned that our true characters will come out and we will see our true selves. I guess this part is coming true. =P

Also I'd really wanna thank Asha and gang back home for helping us to pull things together. =) We really do appreciate what you are doing there. allowing us more time to focus on the journey.

and oh oh, the many people that signed our banner and donated to us today. You have no idea on the inspiration and motivation you have given us. To see bits and pieces of our project coming together is wonderful. Thank you all once again. =)

Tmrw will be a 100km journey. it will be a blast! =)

The Pre-launching of Project Ryders

You have seen what we had been through on the first day but if you ever missed out the launching of Project Ryders, fret not as we are here to keep you posted as always.

31st July 2009 marked the launching of Project Ryders.

To begin with, Datin Chan-Low Kam Yoke, CEO of HELP University College did the opening speech which highlighted the significance of maintaining the tradition of organizing on-going community and social responsibilities activities among the young people. She was pleased to find HELP students are actively involved in CSR projects as...” this time around we have 4 aspiring and adventurous students who will brave the weather from Petaling Jaya all the way to north of Malaysia.” said Datin Chan.

Also presence at the launch, Mr.Yeoh Kee Soon, who is General Secretary of ILSelangor, gave a heartening speech on their shared hopes and aspirations. Their sole aim is to help the disabled to live independently and blend into the community by providing a strong peer support group as well as adequate living skills training.

It may not be an earth shattering, exclusive ceremony that probably will rock your socks out, however it was a simple, cozy and humble one with our closed friends and faithful supporters. Thanks all!

An Emo Post yet Encouraging

If you were keeping up with this blog, you may have realised that I am suppose to be one of the cyclist. I have some personal matters that do not allow me to go on the trip with the ryders. My dad has agreed to sponsor Project Ryders some cash with the condition that I am not cycling. Thus, I become the car crew instead.

This blog entry is meant to personally disclose my feelings and thoughts.

When I was first approached by team Ryders, I had no idea about the organisation that I am raising fund for. I have very little idea who they are and what they are doing until last Saturday during the pre-publicity launch.

Mr. Yeoh and other members of Independent Living of the Disabled Selangor were there in the college early before the start of the launch. I was surprised to see them there early as they can be there later while the facility in the college had not been made friendly to the physically challenged persons. They had no where to go but the lower foyer of the building. I saw Mr. Yeoh being there as he was with the expression that I do not have words to describe. It seems to me that he wanted to have someone to talk to. I approached him and introduced myself. He was very friendly. At that particular moment, I felt the urge to provide my resources to him and help him.

After the pre-launch, I got to know some other members of ILS. I am amazed by the effort they exert in life in order to live like a normal person. One of the female member was telling me that her automatic wheel chair could not support well when she went to the steep area in the bird park the other day. She told me that she it was her first time visiting a bird park. I nearly broke down when I learnt that. I still can recall the last time I went to the bird park and if you ask me again, I would not want to go again. To them, it is a golden chance for them to see the world and explore...

Another male member was telling me that he is going to be posted in a new branch in Perak. He mentioned that he will be there alone while keeping the place safe. In the conversation, I learnt that there were no proper mattresses and furniture provided until some kind hearted people donate and sponsor them. I cannot imagine me being in his situation while I am physically capable.

I did not put this up until I am asked to. I was told that if I do not ever share this with others, nobody will ever know about this and whatever I felt will not be known to others and it will not bring any difference by merely collecting signatures without getting the public know about the unfortunate one.

1st Day - 02.08.09

Today is the day! After three months of planning, the ryders are now on the road.

At 0700, ryders are gathered at Nic's place. After some warm ups and photo taking sessions, ryders are all set to conquer the road. Departing from Bukit Damansara, ryders took their paths while the car crews head before them. It took the ryders 4 hours to reach Esso Petrol station in Kepong due to two punctures along the way. The first puncture occured to Ian's bicycle at Sri Hartamas while the second on Nic's at Sri Damansara. Due to the rain, the ryders stopped at Mont Kiara for 20 minutes.

One of the ryders, Ian Ho was facing great difficulties in keeping up with the pace of others as her bicycle is heavier than what she can carry. The ryders work together to remove the rack and stand from Ian's bicycle at Kepong Esso Petrol station. KJ, our official photographer substituted Ian and took the road with other ryders to Rawang.

The ryders managed to get signatures on their way. One fruitseller offered to provide the ryders some bananas to be taken on the road. Thanks aunt!!

Once touched down in Rawang, we went to a bicycle shop and had Ian's bicycle installed with new 4kg lighter rims. In the mean time, the ryders and car crews had a drink in one of the shop and had some conversations regarding the problems and changes to be made. We met Sandra Loh (a big inspiration to us!) in the mall while doing some shopping. It's a waste that we did not get to take a picture of her and us.

After a long day of cycling, ryders are getting restless and easily irritated. However, this does not stop our enthusiasm and determinism to continue and complete the mission.

The bicycle is now fixed and is ready to go for more distance. Ian took her bicycle and KJ replaced Nic on the route to Jet's place.

On the way, they managed to retrieve more signatures from Kuih seller and her customers. The Kuih seller and the friends who were hanging out there were amazed by the distance the ryders are willing to take in order to raise fund and at the same time create awareness amongst the public in the aid of assisting the physically challenged persons.

Also, the ryders took some pictures when they found something interesting.

Why gecko, you ask?

Here is a little of Gecko 101.

Gecko is one diversify creature that comes in various patterns and colors. Some are brightly colored, while some are just rubbery looking. This has perfectly fit into our team-Project Ryder’s values and personality.

In Project Ryders, we are a group of young people who came from different background and cultures, yet we share the similar deep-lying values, enthusiasms and passions for the unfortunate ones. In the name of hope, we do believe in making a difference in our very own way. Indeed as ambitious as it may sound, we hope to bring people from all walks of life to share the vision as we do.

Gecko is also well known for its flexibility and adaptability. Some can change color to blend it with their environment or particular temperature. Likewise, people behind Project Ryders are a multitalented bunch. The truth is we are left with an uphill task to organize this project with a next-to-nothing budget. However we managed to fully utilize our resources and make the very best of what we have. *finger crossed* Yes, tough cookies we are! More, as this project is approaching soon, the physically and mentally endurance is even more visible and evident. Heat, dirt and toil are definitely something we love! :)

Greetings and welcome to Project Ryders' official blog.

To get started, let's explore the spark that declare the planning of Project Ryders.

Four students cum friends get together one day to talk about random things in the college and about life in general. The conversation leads to the passion in cycling and helping those in needs. Questions arise about how to help people while engaging in something that is deeply rooted in the passion that is shared amongst the four.

"What can we offer?" asked one of them.

As Psychology majors, they understand the pain people are undergoing out there better than anyone else. They recognised the sufferings people need to bear with while trying to get accustomed to the stereotypes and discrimination the many system has embraced. Lack of concern or consideration has resulted their inabilities to function as the way they wish. Limited access to available resources refrain them from growing and developing whilst others took advantage of it.

"What else can we do beside being us?", one answered.

With that, they start to gather the information and resources required to realise their initial ideas of helping people.

There, it breeds Project Ryders.
